If you are reading this bio right now you must be seeking help for yourself or a loved one. Being vulnerable enough to ask for that help takes courage. To help you make that step, know that you will be greeted with a smile, a caring heart, and an open mind.
To prepare for you, I have earned my undergrad degree in Psychology from the University of Houston, where I graduated Magna cum Laude. I then earned my Master’s in Educational Psychology. My experience has been varied. In Practicum I served in a women’s shelter. During my internship I worked at a partial hospitalization program with clients with various mental illness such as; schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, borderline disorder, autism, addictions, etc. I have worked with clients with addictions for at least six years. I worked four years with troubled adolescents on a 110 acre ranch residential facility. There I witnessed firsthand what trauma does to a life. I have also worked with clients who suffer from anxiety and depression.
My preferred methods of therapy are CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), Gestault, and EMDR. I have been trained in EMDR therapy and have used it successfully for more than 10 years. It is highly recommended for trauma, and my clients and myself have had success with EMDR for trauma ranging from early childhood to military PTSD to PTSD related to violent attacks or accidents. It is a highly effective, relative short-term, lasting form of therapy.
