Jennifer Renee Macaulay LCSW

Life can be an exciting adventure, but can also be filled with challenges, stressors, and unanticipated life events. Having the right support to get through the hard times can make all the difference. Therapy offers a safe space to explore life’s challenges, find personal strengths, and to develop the tools and perspective to help process life events so that you can live your life to its fullest potential.

Daughter of a Hispanic father and Caucasian mother I was raised in a multi-cultural household and have learned the value of appreciating diversity. I graduated with a BA in Psychology from the University of Berkeley and then obtained my Masters in Social work from San Diego State. As a social worker I have worked in a variety of environments (including the hospital, office and home settings) and served diverse populations. Getting my License in Clinical Social Work has allowed me to pursue my dream to work as a clinician helping clients live more meaningful and fulfilling lives. I take an active and engaging approach to therapy, incorporating various therapeutic models (i.e. cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and solution-focused therapy) tailored to a client’s strengths and needs.

I have worked with many different populations addressing issues including substance abuse, domestic violence, grief and loss, depression, anxiety, and other life concerns.

I believe strongly in establishing a therapeutic relationship that is based on trust and honesty. Therapy is a space to feel safe and heard. Positive changes can be difficult but are possible with the appropriate tools, determination, and support. The past offers lessons for the present and future, relationships can be healed, dreams can be achieved.

My ideal client is someone who is motivated to explore the areas of self-exploration and personal-growth. Someone who is willing to use the therapeutic environment as a safe space to address issues and work on solutions.

Let me work with you on your journey to healing, discovery, and achievement.
