Janis Dietzel, M.Ed, LPC, LSOTP
Janis is from Houston, Texas. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Licensed Sex Offender Therapy Provider (LSOTP). She graduated with a BA in Psychology from the University of Houston. She also went on to earn her M.Ed. at the University of Houston.
During her internship she worked with clients with severe mental illnesses, including: schizophrenia, borderline personality disorder, bipolar disorder, severe depression, and chronic substance abuse. After transferring to the Hill Country, she worked with clients with substance abuse disorders and various co-occurring mental illnesses. Her most recent experience was 3.5 years working with male adolescent sex offenders (12-15) in a residential treatment facility. There has so often a past traumatic event in all these clients’ lives that she became interested in learning EMDR therapy to help clients identify life’s traumas and heal in an efficient manner. EMDR is also specifically effective for PTSD and of special interest.
The therapeutic relationship is of most importance. Focus is client-centered with the application of cognitive behavioral therapy and EMDR. What you say inside our walls is sacred. As a client, your input is essential in how “we get there from here.” This is a collaborative effort.
