Kathlyn Guerrero, M.A., LMFT
Kathlyn Guerrero is a Bilingual Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist originally from the Rio Grande Valley. As a fluent Spanish speaker she has extensive experience working with the Latinx population including immigrant youth and human trafficking victims. She received her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from St. Mary’s University and her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Child and Family Studies from Baylor University. She has experience working with children/adolescents, adults, couples and families in non-profit agency settings including emergency management and in private practice.
Kathlyn has worked with a variety of populations including at-risk youth and mental health concerns including but not limited to: anxiety, depression, trauma/abuse, multi-cultural issues, self-esteem, life transitions, relationship issues, pre-marital counseling, and parent-child relationship issues. She is certified in Prepare/Enrich, Gottman Emotion Coaching and trained in discernment counseling. She uses a systems approach, which can incorporate other modalities including trauma-informed care, cognitive behavioral therapy, attachment theory, and narrative therapy. Kathlyn views relationships as the foundation of our knowledge of self and of the world. She utilizes clients’ strengths so they may be able to create new more productive stories about themselves and their identities.
