Kate McLennan, DMin, LCSW

Kate McLennan, DMin,
LCSW
Kate McLennan is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, an Interfaith Minister with a Doctor of Ministry degree and a singer/songwriter. She has practiced therapy in many settings including addictions treatment centers, psychiatric hospitals, nursing homes, and spiritual counseling and psychotherapy in private practice. Kate’s interest areas include: working with creatives and creativity; grief work; hospice and palliative care for caregivers; working with LGBTQ I individuals and couples; health crises and long term chronic conditions; pain management strategies; addictions and substance abuse; mental health and wellness. Kate received her Master of Science in Social Work at the University of Texas at Arlington. She subsequently moved to Portland, Oregon where she earned her Licensed Clinical Social Worker certification. While in Oregon, she started her doctoral program in ministry at the University of Creation Spirituality in Oakland,
California. She received her Doctor of Ministry degree with a focus in Creativity and Spirituality in 2004. Kate began her healing work years earlier as a massage therapist. Her practice included sexual abuse survivors; people dealing with substance abuse issues and families dealing with the fall out; and people with chronic long term medical conditions. As her work deepened through the years, Kate realized the significance of the connection between body, emotions, mind and spirit, and chose to further her training throughout her evolution. As a singer/songwriter, Kate’s
nurturing and engaging therapeutic music leads her to present at conferences, concerts, spiritual communities, and bedside music for hospice patients and their families. Kate believes in a
positive, strengths based approach to counseling. She draws from a deep well of training and experience in multiple modalities including mindfulness, meditation, Positive Psychology, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, expressive arts therapies, and biofeedback. Most importantly, Kate has the willingness to be with you through
your pain to help you discover your truth.
