Melinda Schoppe LPC, CGCS, SC-C
I’m Melinda Schoppe, also known as Mendy. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Certified Grief Counselor with Play therapy experience.
I believe the answers to a better tomorrow are there to be discovered and we will work together to find them. Just as each person is unique, the therapy I provide will be tailored just for you and/or your child under best practices guidelines. I’m glad you’ve taken this big leap of trust to seek support for you. I strive to empower you and your child for a positive outcome.
Helping children thrive has been a passion of mine for my entire professional life of over 30 years. First as a Special Education teacher, then a preschool teacher and onward to provide therapy for children. As a counselor I have helped children as young as 2 and as old as 18. Under
my care children experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, grief and learning difficulties were helped to build a better tomorrow. My goal always is to help children and parents feel seen and understood. I am well versed in developmental abilities, learning difficulties, as well as sensory processing issues. Having insight into these areas can help give answers to the different aspects affecting your child. Helping the whole child is my mission.
I’ll provide a foundation to explore unmet needs, emotional difficulties, stress, sensory issues as well as strengths to build upon. All of this is done through your child’s natural language of play. For the youth and adults, I will provide compassionate talk therapy.
I’m a nature lover so being outside is my second home. That’s usually where I understand life lessons. Gardening for food or flowers brings me joy. Painting, pottery, and dancing helps me explore my creative side and gives me an outlet for self-care. I’ve been married for 30 years to my wonderful husband, and we have two adult children. I have a few “best friends” in my Aussie dogs that provide comfort and play.
