Project Description

Lauri Berkman is a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor working with people to empower them to develop solutions to life’s problems. She utilizes clinically tested and evidence based interventions like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. Lauri received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and a Masters of Science degree in Counseling Psychology both from West Virginia University. She has been trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Nurturing Parenting by the State of Texas. Lauri has always been innovative and enthusiastic and provides her clients with many interesting and challenging exercises. Many of these exercises were designed to elicit new patterns of thinking from clients, and to aid and support them in taking new actions and moving forward.

As a practitioner of Rogerian or client centered therapy Lauri utilizes all of her skills and experience to provide a facilitative and empathic environment for clients to grow and develop, so they can live their best life. By providing unconditional positive regard to everyone she works with, while still holding them accountable for their choices and actions, Lauri can provide them with excellent support. When people are supported in this way they can focus on their needs without fearing judgment or criticism. Lauri’s education and professional experience have allowed her to develop a holistic approach to counseling that meets clients needs on many different levels. Lauri has had success in working with people of all ages, cultures and socioeconomic backgrounds and she is always willing to meet people “where they are” emotionally to get them on the road to a more fulfilling life.
