Yolanda is originally from Brownsville, TX and began working in mental health as a school counselor. Yolanda obtained her Master of Education in Counseling and Guidance from The University of Texas at Brownsville, now known as The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. As an LPC Intern, Yolanda worked in a shelter setting with at-risk youth predominantly from Central America and therefore has extensive experience counseling clients in Spanish. Yolanda adheres to a collaboration between a Person Centered and Cognitive Behavioral theoretical framework, then implements an eclectic variety of techniques to tailor to each client’s unique needs. Yolanda strives to create a comfortable, genuine and judgment-free environment in which her clients can explore thought patterns that may be contributing to difficulty managing life’s stressors. Yolanda’s areas of interest include mood disorders, anxiety related disorders, grief counseling, working with clients struggling with major life transitions as well as career issues.
