Michelle DeVries LCSW
Michelle is a board certified Licensed Clinical Social Worker who is originally from Riverside, California. Michelle moved to Austin, Texas over 5 years ago, solo, on a whim. Michelle recently moved into a cute countryside home in the outskirts of Seguin. Michelle received her bachelor’s as well as master’s degree in social work at San Diego State University in San Diego California.
Michelle’s professional journey began as an intern delivering children’s therapy and as a group leader for Kids’ Turn San Diego. Kids’ Turn specialized in services supporting issues of grief and separation for high conflict divorce as well as military separation and transitions. Following the internship, Michelle was hired as a clinician. At the same time, Michelle worked part time as a children’s counselor at the San Diego Center for Children, a residential treatment program. During her graduate program, Michelle worked as an intern with Vista Hill Parent Care, providing perinatal case management for pregnant and parenting mothers struggling with substance use and addiction, as well as, early child behavioral intervention for their infants, toddlers, and young children. Michelle then moved to Austin and worked at Dell Children’s Mental Health Unit, an inpatient psychiatric unit for children and adolescents. Part of this responsibility included working in the emergency department completing crisis assessments. This position involved supporting various diagnoses to include anxiety, depression, mood disorders, personality disorders, eating disorders and chemical dependency. After a few years working vigorous hours in the hospital, Michelle received her LCSW and felt the pull to revisit psychotherapy and again support clients on an individualized level. Michelle uses a culturally competent approach utilizing the strengths perspective, cognitive behavioral therapy, and trauma informed care, to name a few.
During her free time Michelle enjoys spending quality time with her friends and family, embarking on new adventures, and spending time outdoors. Cannot forget to include Michelle’s beloved cat Nugget/Nug/Nuggie and dog, Duke (just Duke).
