Ray Begaye, LPC, LCDC
I am from New Mexico and was raised on a farm on the Navajo Reservation before joining the US Army in 2000. After discharging honorably from the Army in 2012, I moved to San Antonio, Texas; whereby, I received my Master’s Degree from Wayland Baptist University in Counseling in 2015. I have been a licensed psychotherapist since 2019.
I hold a variety of professional licensures: Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor. I have had a variety of experiences with families, couples, and individual work. My professional experiences include working with all ages and backgrounds such as adult parole & probation, youth in CPS custody, juvenile probation, active-duty military, veterans, homeless population, addiction & recovery, and inpatient psychiatric hospital settings.
My specialties include mood disorders, depression/anxiety, phase of life issues, couples therapy, and addiction/recovery. My philosophy on counseling psychotherapy is to provide an atmosphere of no judgment, safety, and reassurance to address overwhelming stressors that create pain, loss, shame, regret, and guilt from childhood to adulthood. These wounds can be temporarily concealed with behaviors of escaping, legal/illegal substance use, and poor coping. I can never think or feel your fears and insecurities.
I will not put a silver lining on your complications by saying “I understand exactly what you are going through”. I want to share that moment with you and help you navigate those stuck feelings. As your clinician I serve as the substance for motivation to change, decision-making, and conflict resolution, and I feel that progress is achievable through therapy.
