Vedabrata (Ved) Basu MS, LPC
Ved transitioned to the field of Mental Health Counseling because he wanted to be in a healing profession.
Ved completed his M.S. Degree in Clinical mental Health Counseling from the University of Texas at San Antonio. Ved also completed his Basic EMDR Therapy Training.
During his internship, Ved worked with clients with issues such as bereavement, depression, ADHD, emotional dysregulation, behavioral problems, acute psychiatric symptoms requiring psychiatric hospitalization, and post-traumatic stress disorder.
Ved tends to be client-centered in his approach. Ved works with the underlying philosophy that a client has the potential, within himself or herself, to proceed in the direction that leads to his or her intended goal. The therapist plays a supporting role in the client’s journey through providing validation, empathy, positive regard, and appropriate counseling interventions that can help the client to move forward in the direction toward accomplishing his or her therapeutic goals.
Ved is interested in Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Therapy, and EMDR. However, Ved also believes that each client is unique and has a unique set of needs. Therefore, techniques from different counseling modalities can be combined and integrated to an appropriate set of counseling interventions that can provide optimum client benefits.
